“Is Every Picture a Tale Waiting to Be Told? “

Looking back I feel…embracing my story with gratitude and purpose.

Everything is meaningful and meaningless at once. A walk down the memory lane. It’s weird how many memories and emotions a photo can bring up. But it’s like they say: “a picture holds a thousand words” I think I’m gonna go ahead and add a couple of emotions too mix of joy & sadness too. Growing up was No money for class trips. No money to fit in with stylish clothes but Fantastic loving parents who were always there to guide & support . Admittedly, I do feel a tinge of nostalgia when I look at this teenage photo of mine. But it’s not all about going back to the past and turning to mush when memories hit you. It’s also how your experiences as a child have added up to help you become the person you are now. And so it’s always good to preserve your memories. even though I was a innocent, shy girl, who loved life but did not like attention at all. And was never cool enough for the “cool kids”, I still was always strong enough to be myself. Memories are not merely a choice when we choose to relive. Memories remind us that not everyone and everybody is to be trusted. This is the time in grade 11 where my dreams were first made; it is here that I dreamt of travelling some day, it was here that I dreamt of going away to university, it was here that I dreamt of writing my first book. Memories are a great shaper of the present and the future. Use your memories to enrich your life and not to destroy the great potential that remains often hidden within you. Believe in yourself know dreams do come true. The absolute fascination I had for Egyptian art, history, religion and culture from very early on in my childhood. I would literally get goosebumps when there was a television show about the pyramids and loved to pore over books about mummies, hieroglyphics and so on. So Egypt was definitely on my list as a ‘must see’ travel destination. I went there last year and of course, it was amazing. The urge to go there had been so strong all my life and I just soaked the whole experience up like a sponge. Travelling through Egypt was a wonderful realisation of a childhood dream and was certainly an inspiring experience. Looking back I feel that experiences—as fleeting as they may be—deliver more-lasting happiness than things. “Our experiences are a bigger part of ourselves than our material goods,” said Gilovich. “You can really like your material stuff. You can even think that part of your identity is connected to those things, but nonetheless they remain separate from you. In contrast, your experiences really are part of you. We are the sum total of our experiences. If I compare in modern times the temporary happiness achieved by buying things is puddles of pleasure. In other words, that kind of happiness evaporates quickly and leaves us wanting more. Things may last longer than experiences, but the memories that linger are what matter most. I guess no matter where you are currently at in your life now, there is always something you can do to bring your childhood dreams back to life and create a greater sense of meaning and purpose every day. In the captivating worldnof imagery, every picture indeed holds a unique tale awaiting discovery in the eye of it’s beholder.
